– About Us –
In 1995 a group of Christian believers were sharing their mission experiences in Central
America. They were astounded at the great need in third world countries, for visiting these
poverty-stricken areas was a life-changing event. Then they realized that there
are many in the United States who live in poverty and also have physical and medical needs.
They were convicted to carry out missions in their own back yard, using their specific gifts
and talents for the Lord. A scripture came to mind, when Jesus spat and touched the eyes of
the blind man twice for him to see. Thus the ministry was named “Touched Twice”.
A few months after that realization this group of friends sponsored their first health fair.
Little did they know that the health fair concept would develop into larger-scale
clinics and spread to many sites within the Louisville region.
The initial vision was for people with different skills to have an opportunity to
share with those in need in their community. The group believed the key to changing a
community was through changed hearts, and the key to a changed heart was God. Their
desire was for this to not be just another social ministry. It was (and is) an evangelistic
outreach to share the love and gospel of Christ while meeting the needs of their community.
As of 2004, we have organized numerous Clinics and have served over 10,000 clients.
Each time, we have been amazed and humbled at how the Lord has taken a few resources and
multiplied them to satisfy the needs of hundreds of people. We have had volunteer
physicians, nurses, optometrists, physical therapists, and chiropractors from the health
field. But the exciting thing is that this ministry has plenty of opportunities for all
Christians to use their gifts and talents in other areas of service.
Touched Twice Ministries is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our ministry is supervised
under the direction of a Board of Directors and composed of evangelical Christians.
Our vision is to encourage Christians in other regions to touch people twice.
Our goal continues to include sharing the love of Christ and promoting the Gospel to all places.
As we continue to grow, we envision a paid staff to help accomplish this task.
